## What is EnglishScore?
EnglishScore is a mobile-first English proficiency testing and certification platform built by the British Council. It is the world's only recognised English test delivered entirely on a mobile phone, covering all four language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Tests are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) — the worldwide standard used by tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, and TOEIC — and results are internationally recognised by employers and institutions.

## Tests Offered
- **Core Skills Test**: Measures grammar, vocabulary, reading, and listening in 30–40 minutes using adaptive technology. Results are instant.
- **Speaking Test**: Expert-aligned AI scoring of spoken English for workplace communication. Takes 10–15 minutes. Scores arrive near-instantly. Professional Certificate issued within 24 hours after human security review.
- **Writing Test**: Expert-aligned AI scoring of written English for digital workplace scenarios. Takes 20–30 minutes. Scores arrive near-instantly. Professional Certificate issued within 24 hours after human security review.

All three tests are free to take and can be taken in any order — there is no minimum score required to access the Speaking or Writing tests. Free practice attempts are available before a scored, certifiable attempt (Core Skills practice is limited to 2 attempts per 24 hours and 10 per month).

## Scoring
EnglishScore uses a 0–599 point scale mapped to CEFR levels (A1 through C1). Scores include skill-by-skill breakdowns. The CEFR is the worldwide standard for describing language proficiency, used by tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, and TOEIC.

## Global English
EnglishScore is designed to assess English as a global language. The Speaking Test does not penalise regional English varieties or accents associated with specific countries — the only criterion is global comprehensibility. Test content is drawn from universal workplace and everyday scenarios and does not advantage test-takers from any particular cultural background.

## Certificate
Professional Certificates include the test-taker's photo, CEFR level, skill breakdown, and a unique verification ID. Certificates are shareable on LinkedIn and verifiable by employers via an online portal. Every certificate undergoes human review within 1 business day. Partner institutions can issue co-branded certificates carrying both the British Council and institution's logo.

## Security
EnglishScore is the world's only mobile-proctored English test. Security features include:
- Front-camera photo capture at random intervals during the test
