What It Measures
The Core Skills Test measures your grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening skills using adaptive technology. The test adjusts based on your answers, so you only see questions appropriate for your level — making the test both efficient and fair.
Complete gaps in short texts or dialogues by choosing from three options. Questions range from familiar everyday topics at lower levels to abstract workplace scenarios at higher levels. 45 seconds per question.
Read texts and answer comprehension questions. At A2, you complete short texts (~30 words). At C1, you're working with complex passages (~250 words) and answering multiple questions per text.
Listen to monologues and dialogues, then answer comprehension questions. We use a range of accents including American, British, and Australian. At higher levels, you'll identify speaker attitude and lines of argument.
