How the Test Works
See a sentence on screen (10–22 words depending on your level) and read it aloud. You can re-record if you want a second attempt. 45 seconds per question.
Watch a video of someone speaking a phrase (6–14 words), then repeat it. Input recordings deliberately use a range of different accents — reflecting the diversity of English speakers worldwide. 45 seconds per question.
Watch a video prompt, then record your spoken response. Some questions include images or tables. This is where communication skills really come through — we're looking for relevant, developed responses. 30–45 seconds response time depending on level.
Scoring
Our speaking scoring model was built from over 8,000 spoken responses, each rated independently by at least two expert examiners. The AI was iteratively refined until it achieved a 0.87 correlation with expert human raters.
